As FWD Singapore turns 6, we honour the everyday people by helping them press play and pursue their passions so that they can live life with confidence. Be inspired by Mr. Ang and Imani as they press play with FWD.

“Self-determination is the ability to decide what I want to do with my life and then act on the decision.” – Mr. Ang Dai Yap

Mr. Ang, 80, first discovered his passion for bird photography during his nature park walks with his friends.
What started as a means to manage his pains from varying health conditions and improve his mobility has evolved into weekly photography trips across the island.

“It’s all in the mind!” said an energetic Mr. Ang, when asked whether such walks are too long and exhausting.
Not one to be deterred by age, Mr. Ang also completed a photography class and exhibited some of his photos through a Singapore Management University (SMU) group project.
“I like the challenge that comes with bird photography as the moments can be fleeting and requires patience to get good shots,” Mr. Ang added.

His dream? To host a personal exhibition and share his love for bird photography with the rest of Singapore.
“That’s the dream but I will need better tools,” Mr. Ang quipped as he showed his 8-year-old Panasonic Lumix with damaged lenses.

In conjunction with FWD’s Press Play campaign this year, FWD Singapore is partnering with AWWA to provide Mr. Ang with upgrades to his photography equipment so that he can further his passion in bird photography and live life to the fullest with courage.

Discussions are also in the pipeline to support Mr. Ang so that he can work towards his dream of hosting a personal exhibition.
