It’s that time of the year again! December is here and it’s the month of festivities and holiday joy that gives us a chance to end our year on a great note.

Suffice to say, 2021 was the year we were able to regain some sense of normalcy while living in the COVID-19 pandemic. We were able to dine out with family, attend small-scale concerts and organise events like weddings. And most importantly for many, the borders re-opened. The Vaccinated Travel Lane scheme gives people a chance to finally visit family or resume their adventures overseas. Hence, many consider purchasing Travel insurance for a peace of mind when they travel.

However, it’s understandable that there are still a number of people who aren’t ready to leave the country just yet, especially for families with younger children. According to a TripAdvisor survey, about half of Singaporeans are looking to stay put for the holidays.

Well, if you’re remaining in Singapore, there is still a lineup of activities you can enjoy. Plus, for Singaporeans, it’s the last month to book your SingapoRediscover Vouchers! This guide consists of places where you can use the vouchers, with activities suitable for different types of family.

For nature lovers

  • Night Adventure at the Night safari/Singapore Zoo

Enjoy a night exploration at the world’s first nocturnal wildlife park and embark on a journey with its rescued Sunda Pangolin, Berani. You can spot the critically endangered species at the Night Safari, discover Augmented Reality (AR) animals and complete challenges. There is also a Virtual Reality (VR) journey, showing the world’s most unique night creatures. You can also head over to the Singapore Zoo, where the last installation of Rainforest Lumina is held. An enchanting multimedia night walk through the zoo serves as a delight for your senses, spicing up the night for the whole family.

  • COMO Adventure Grove at Botanic Gardens

Explore a playground outside your neighbourhood with the new playing space at Botanic Gardens. The free activity provides structures to swing and climb, slides that go up to 4 metres in length and obstacle courses. Your little ones will have plenty to explore! There is an array of cafes nearby as well to fill you up after the play date, or if a laid-back picnic is preferred, you are sure to find a spot on the green fields to relax on.

For the gamers

  • New World Carnival

Take your living room games up to the next level with an immersive VR experience at New World Carnival. Be spoilt for choice with various games to choose from, such as Baby Shark, Mystery House, Viking Craft and Zombie Jail. There is also a VR laser tag activity, perfect for some healthy family competition.

  • NERF Action Xperience

Challenge your family (or friends) in a simulated training circuit, handle a NERF blaster and test how good of a marksman you are at the NERF Action Xperience. Choose to shoot zombies or protect your territory with different zones available, making it a destination that definitely calls for a bunch of family fun. You can even hold family events in an event room! This isn’t an activity for toddlers though, as the minimum age is 7 and minimum height is 1.3 metres.

For sea lovers

  • Royal Albatross experience

Embark on a unique sailing experience on the Royal Albatross, a luxury tall ship. Enjoy meals during the daytime, or in the evening and catch the beautiful sunset on the horizon. View the city in a different perspective and even get the chance to invite your furry friends on board!

  • Southern Islands Tour

Did you know? Singapore is made up of 63 islands! You can take the chance to explore 5 islands with a curated tour by Klook. Take the day to enjoy some tranquility in the seas, and visit Sisters’ Islands, Kusu Island, St John’s Island, Seringat Island, and Lazarus Island. It’s a great way to learn about the inhabited islands and discover new parts of Singapore.

For the arts & culture lovers

  • The Intan Peranakan Heritage Museum

The award-winning home museum is an independent cultural and social space in Joo Chiat, and a haven for the treasures of the Peranakan Culture. Experience an extra special personal touch to usual museums, as the owner provide insights to Peranakan culture in modern times in his abode. You could also take home a piece of the experience with you, with an exquisite lineup of items, gifts, tableware and more for you to purchase.

  • Da Vinci Exhibition at the Science Centre

For the daredevils

  • Creepy Tales of Singapore Tour

Love to keep your adrenaline up? Or a huge fan of “Singapore Ghost Stories”? This activity is certainly not for young kids or the faint-hearted. An evening like no other, enjoy a fun and chilling night tour of Singapore’s haunted sites. With candles and ghost-detecting devices in hand, discover local urban legends at places like cemeteries and a World War 2 battlefield with a guide.

  • Bungee jump at Skypark Sentosa

Another thrill-seeking excitement takes place 50 meters from the ground, at Skypark Sentosa. Staying true to its reputation of Singapore’s playground, the only bungy tower in the country gives you a chance to leap head-first off the edge, for a bungee jump or swing in the air. There’s also the Skybridge that gives you a bird’s eye view of the island.
