Planning your holiday after two long years of waiting for travel restrictions to ease? Here are some tips that you may find useful while planning for your trip!

With the opening of borders, we are finally able to book that spontaneous trip to Bangkok or that long awaited trip to Europe. After staying in Singapore for two years, we are all itching to travel the world once again! Here are some tips that you may find useful as you embark on your trip.

1. Check the entry requirements for the country that you are visiting

With the ever-evolving COVID-19 situation, always keep yourself updated with the latest entry requirements of the country that you are visiting. Today, some countries might require you to do pre-departure testing, while other countries might no longer need you to. Every country has their own requirements for entry, don’t forget to check the latest updates to ensure that you will be able to enter the country smoothly.

Some countries may require you to apply for a special entry pass to enter or require a proof of vaccination. You can obtain your vaccination certificate via Notarise. Not sure where to start searching for more information? Check out this travel planning tool launched by the Straits Times to learn more about the entry requirements and COVID-19 measures of the country that you are travelling to.

2. Budgeting tips

Travelling can be expensive with the additional expenses incurred for COVID-19 related entry tests. Here are some tips that may help you to save some dollars so that you can keep within your budget.

1. Get a multi-currency card

Instead of bringing large sum of cash for your trip and worrying that you do not have enough for your trip, why not consider getting a multi-currency card? Such cards usually have better exchange rates than traditional money changers. You will also be able to exchange monies from anywhere – even when you are already overseas!

2. Book accommodations or attraction tickets via a third-party platform

Booking accommodations or attraction tickets from a third-party platform may allow you to get tickets at a cheaper price as compared to buying them directly on site. These platforms may even have flash sales occasionally, making your bookings even cheaper!

3. Stay covered as you travel

While travelling is exciting, it can also be filled with uncertainties. This is especially so with the unpredictable nature of COVID-19, the biggest worry that is probably on most people’s mind when planning their trip today. One way to mitigate this risk would be to purchase a travel insurance that provides coverage for COVID-19 related expenses.

FWD Travel insurance with COVID-19 add-on will help you stay worry-free with coverage of up to S$5,000 for trip cancellation and loss of deposit if you are diagnosed with COVID-19 before your trip. In the unfortunate event that you catch COVID-19 overseas and are unable to return to Singapore as per your original itinerary, the COVID-19 add-on covers up to S$5,000 for additional travel and accommodation expenses incurred. On top of that, you may be eligible to claim for an overseas quarantine allowance of S$50 a day for up to 14 days if you are required to be quarantined in a non-hospital setting.

As you plan your travels, get covered as early as possible to ensure that you stay protected for any uncertainties that may arise due to COVID-19.
